Youth Ministry

What is Assumption Youth Ministry?
CSI: Assumption - Catholic Students Interacting at Assumption: The hope of the Assumption Youth Ministry program is to help teenagers form a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, bring them to a deeper understanding of their Catholic Faith, and give them opportunities to live our their faith by participating in the life and mission of the Church. These goals are met by offering educational, spiritual, service and social activities.
The youth ministry program hopes to bring all young people into active roles within the parish; enable them to continue to grow in their faith and knowledge of God and His Church. We keep them informed of deanery and diocesan-wide events, retreats and sacramental services. Youth Ministry serves as an advocate for the young people within the church and within the larger community.
Who is Youth Ministry for?
Assumption Youth Ministry is a program for middle school youth (CSI: Jr. -6th-8th grade) and senior high youth (CSI: Sr. - 9th-12th grade) in the parish. All high school youth are invited to come to any of the events (if coming to middle school program they're encouraged to take leadership roles.)
Who runs the program?
The coordinators of youth ministry are Jen and Mike Packard. They organize and plan all the events, meetings, and happenings. However, other adults serve as chaperones, drivers, and help in countless other ways.

What do we do?
Educate: A lot of youth believe that once CCD has ended or teens have graduated from 8th grade Catholic Grade school, their faith education is not done - it has only just begun.
Separate bi-monthly meetings where we discuss topics relevant to middle school youth and high school youth.
Diocesan Retreats, Youth Rallies, and other events.
Service: Christ calls us to serve those less fortunate and he blesses us with many graces when we serve others.
Food drives, sending care packages to college bound and men/women in service
Breakfast with Santa, Sharing Tree, Cleaning church for the holidays.
Social Activities: Youth need to feel comfortable with and connected to those around them. This is especially true in Youth Ministry because it is easier to share faith, opinions and feelings with others when you know them and are comfortable with them. There are also ice breakers and games at bi-monthly meetings, ice skating, youth rallies, and bowling.
Parish Ministry: It is so important to feel connected to a Parish Family. In becoming more active in our parish we feel more a part of everything and hopefully we will continue to be active in our adult years.
Serving at Mass as hospitality ministers, lectors, cantors and altar servers
Serving other parish organizations such as Parish Festival and Fish Fry
