The annual diocesan Parish Share Campaign began in February 2011-2012.  If you are registered in the parish, you should have received a letter about Parish Share from Father Dennis.  We understand that these are difficult economic times for many of us, but ask that you consider what you are able to do to support this worthwhile effort.  

There is a pledge card included with the letter, asking for your support for Parish Share.  Pledges are usually paid over a period of 10 months, so if you are able to pledge $400, that is only $40 a month. However, we appreciate any amount you are able to give.  Assumption’s assessment this year is $116,960.  Any money collected for PSP from our parish that is over and above the amount of our assessment remains right here in the parish -- free from diocesan taxation -- to be used for whatever we need.

So, you can see that contributing to Parish Share is an excellent way to maximize your financial giving and support!  There are several parish projects that need to be completed, among which are a new convent roof, and new windows in the school buildings, which will benefit both Assumption School students and our CCD students as well as parish organizations that meet in the school.

Why Should You Support Parish Share?

• Funds from the Parish Share program aid in the charitable and administrative work of the Diocese of Pittsburgh; and every parish in the diocese has a responsibility to participate in this program. At some point, we or members of our families may need the assistance that PSP can provide. 

• Money collected for Parish Share allows the diocese to help families in crisis through Catholic Charities—this could be through counseling services or a free health clinic, marriage and parenting programs, or in other ways.

• PSP money is used to support training of seminarians in our diocese

• The monies assist individuals who are handicapped or in some way disabled.

• PSP provides for hospital chaplains.

How Can You Help?

• Please prayerfully consider what you can pledge/pay to Parish Share. Fill out the Pledge Card and drop it in the collection basket or bring it to the Parish Office. If you did not receive a Pledge Card in the mail, we have extras at the office.

• If you prefer, you can make a lump sum payment to PSP. Or you may wish to make periodic payments when convenient.

• There is a Parish Share envelope in your monthly packet of church envelopes. Or, at any time, you can make a donation to PSP by simply putting your check or cash in a regular envelope marked “Parish Share.”
